St Ignatius CYO basketball

St Ignatius CYO basketball is available to all registered members of the parish.   In addition, in order to participate in CYO for St. Ignatius, any child who has yet to be confirmed must be either enrolled in Prep or attend the Parish or another Catholic School.

The following programs are offered:

Adult League (Over 30) - Starts late November  (Plays Monday Nights)

High School (Boys/Girls 9/10 and 11/12) - Starts November 1st

Travel (Boys 4th, 5/6, 7/8) - Starts November 1st.

Travel (Girls 4th, 5/6, 7/8) - Starts November 1st. 

PeeWee (boys/girls PreK/K, 1st /2nd grade) - Runs Mid November till end of February (Sunday Afternoons)

Intramurals (Boys and Girls 3rd & 4th) - Runs November thru February

Tryouts for REGION travel (5/6 and 7/8 boys and girls) will be held early November.  We will publish actual times as we get closer.  We will also be holding open gym during October....date and times will be sent out soon.

 Volunteer clearance requirements 

CYO Volunteers, we really appreciate the extra efforts in continuing to keep our children safe.  Below are the steps that all volunteers need to complete in order to work with our CYO athletes. 

1. PA State Police Criminal Record Check

  1. Go to https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp for get your PA State Police Criminial Check.  Results available within a few minutes.
  2. Print out your results for submission to the School.
  3. Renewal is required every 5 years.

2. Pa Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Clearance Check

  1. Go to https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home and submit an application online. Create a "Child Welfare Account" and completing the information electronically through the Child Welfare Portal.
  2. Print out your results for submission to the School.
  3. Renewal is required every 5 years.

3. Federal Criminal Background Check

  1. A Federal background check, finger printing, is also required for non-school employees and all volunteers, who do not live in PA or have lived outside of PA during the past ten years. Information is available online by clicking here.  If you HAVE lived in PA for 10 years continuously, please sign the Disclosure Statement found here.
  2. Print out your results for submission to the School.
  3. Preregister for finger printing by clicking How an applicant can preregister for fingerprints.
  4. For all current and/or prospective parish and other staff/volunteers
    • The following are service codes needed to register:
      • 1KG6Y3 for Volunteers.
      • If you don’t fall under the above category you will need to contact (DHS) Department of Human Services to determine the appropriate code you should use at 717-783-6211.
  5. After above code is entered you should then click on Schedule or Manage Appointment and enter the required information.

  7. Fee: $23.85

4. Protecting God's Children

  1. Volunteers who have any contact with children are required to complete parts one and two of the Safe Environment training within 90 days of beginning their volunteer work.
  • Part I: Protecting God's Children (instructor-led), is offered regularly at sites throughout the Archdiocese.  The training provides basic facts about child sexual abuse and adults’ roles in prevention. Register here.
  • Part II: The Mandatory Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse (online), is available online in English and Spanish. This training provides an overview of Archdiocesan reporting procedures for suspected child abuse and Pennsylvania Child Welfare Laws. The training should take you approximately one hour to complete. Register here.

5. Act 24: Arrest & Conviction Report

  1. Go to http://www.education.pa.gov/Documents/Teachers-Administrators/Background%20Checks/Arrest%20or%20Conviction%20form.pdf
  2. Print out your results for submission to the School.

St Ignatius CYO Volleyball

St Ignatius CYO Volleyball program is for registered active members of the parish or parish school students.  Teams compete against other CYO programs in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia during the applicable competitive season. 

FALL 

  • Junior Varsity (Gr. 5-6), Girls - competes against other parish teams
  • Varsity (Gr. 7-8), Girls- competes against other parish teams

Note: Currently, there is no competitive boys volleyball program that is offered in the spring/fall.

Open gym times will be offered in August. Evaluations will be held in late August. Regular season runs from September to October. Post season is at the end of October.

Please note practice days will be determined once we have the number of registered players and determined the number of teams. We are hoping that St. Ignatius home games will take place on Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons, and Sunday afternoons (subject to Region 19 scheduling). Please register asap if your child is interested to play this fall. 

SPRING 

  • Juniors (Gr. 4-5), boys and girls- SKILLS clinics are geared to teach the fundamentals, teamwork, and the rules to play the game.  Season runs from March to April.
  • Middle School (Gr. 6-8), boys and girls - SKILLS clinics will review basic skills and rules. Focus is on improving individual performance and advancing the player's game. Season runs from March to April.
  • High School (Gr. 9-12), boys and girls - coed team competes against other Region 19 parish teams. Players of all skill levels are welcome! New to volleyball? Join and learn! Guaranteed to be a fun season for all! Season runs from March to May.
  • Adults, men and women - Get ready to play some friendly games! All skill levels welcome! Schedule is Monday evenings (March-April) after PREP.

St Ignatius CYO Soccer

The St Ignatius CYO Soccer program is entering its 3rd year, and is available to all registered members of the parish.  We will once again be partnering with Holy Trinity/St John's to form teams from pre-K through 8th grade.  
 
The program's focus will be to advocate the high standards of sportsmanship and fair play, with an objective to build, develop and improve soccer skills and techniques in addition to nurturing a sense of teamwork.  
 
The following teams will be offered:
  •  Pee-Wee: pre-K/K and 1st/2nd grade teams (co-ed) - this level is considered to be non-competitive developmental level to teach the children the basic skills of the game; games at this level are typically 6v6
  • Novice: 3rd/4th grade teams (girls and boys) - games are 8v8 and the teams travel to and play other area schools
  • JV: 5th/6th grade teams (girls and boys)
  • Varsity: 7th/8th grade teams (boys and girls) 
    • The children will be asked to go through an evaluation and will be split between Parish and Region level teams; both teams will travel and play other area schools with the Region level team playing games 11v11 while the Parish games will be 8v8
  • The season runs from August until early November
  • Practice are 1 - 2 nights a week
  • All teams are coached by parent volunteers

St Ignatius of Yardley CYO

This program enables the partnership of parents, priests, and adult leaders to manage and support a sports program that allows the youth of our parish to grow in their relationship with God and come to better understand themselves and the Catholic Faith.
